preparation for antimicrobial assay

Ok, morning, was waiting for my partner, so that we can go and get our glasswares. (Skip the waiting part, will only talk the important part). And yet, we still didn’t get the full set of the things we want yet. Damn!

Prepare to move all our glasswares and stuffs needed to the bench at BE (Biochemistry) FYP lab. Suddenly feel not used because things and reagents are just around us, now everything need to carry from the initial lab to the next. Just feel very not used to that…LOL

The biggest problem faced in antimicrobial assay is the solubility of the samples used in 1% DMSO. It is only 1%, is kinda hard. Never mind. Trial. Took 0.1mg of sample and prepare the 1% DMSO (by mixing 100ul of 100% DMSO and top up to 10mL with distilled water). Ya, not fully dissolved even shaked it vigorously. Then thought of using the sonicator, at last, the sample dissolved. Then boss suggested us to use 1 drop of 100% DMSO onto the sample then only mix it with the 1% DMSO. (The overall concentration of DMSO in antimicrobial assay cannot more than 6.25%) So, we try this suggestion. Ya, it worked.

Next week, gonna start the battle for antimicrobial assay…
